CHICAGO — Scott Socha should be celebrating his 18-year-old son''s graduation from
Oak Forest High School. Instead, he''s counting down the days until he loses his job as a
Kirby School District 140 custodian,
according to the Southtown Star.
Socha, 59, is one of 37 custodians whose job may be abolished because the school district is considering outsourcing its custodial services. Their contract is up June 30, the article stated.
The school board is set to decide the custodians'' fate tonight. They''ll also decide whether they''ll approve a contract for Downers Grove-based
GCA Services, which also cleans
Andrew High School, District 140 Board Vice President Thomas Martelli said.
District 140 would save about $800,000 a year if the services are outsourced, according to school district documents.
