Christy Calhoun, a four-year employee with the district, was accused of stealing food from the school cafeteria, the story stated.
Calhoun plans to appeal the Florence School Board''s decision, something she has 15 days to do, because concrete evidence was not provided in the case, the story noted.
Calhoun said: "The truth will come out on this. The light will shine on the facts and I will be [vindicated]."
According to the story, Florence City Schools do not plan on filing criminal charges against Calhoun.
Calhoun''s position has been filled on an interim basis until an ultimate decision is made following her appeal, the story added.
Florence City Schools Superintendent Kendy Behrends said: "These are just really unfortunate situations, but just as we teach our children to follow the rules, we must demand it from adults as well."
