December 14, 2010
CLARKSVILLE, TN — A First Baptist Church custodian was stabbed in the back over the weekend in an alley during an apparent mugging attempt, according to The Leaf Chronicle.
The victim, 39-year-old Christian Ayles, had been taking out the trash behind the church at about 8:15 p.m. Friday when an unknown male grabbed him from behind and reached in his pocket, the article stated.
Ayles was treated at Gateway Medical Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center this weekend and released to his home, the article noted.
According to the article, Ayles spoke about the incident Monday afternoon saying, "I just want to let the person that did this know I do forgive him, but I think he needs to come to terms with what made him do this so he doesn''t do it again."
