Custodian phones police as shots ring out
WILLCOX, AZ — Thanks to his quick thinking, a Willcox High School custodian is being called a hero, according to KVOA-TV.
Gus Morales was outside the school last Thursday when he heard a loud explosion coming from inside the car of a student, the article stated.
According to the article, when Morales realized the sound was gunshots, he immediately called 911, prompting a lockdown at the school.
One boy got away, while the other was able to get in to Morales'' car and was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries from shattered glass, the article noted.
Morales is glad he was there when the shooting happened, saying, "Who knows what would have happened. I''m just glad I was there and nobody was hurt."
