According to the story, Sanchez was presented with a commemorative award during the celebration — this year dubbed "A Star Spangled Gala" — at the
Brownsville Events Center.
Sanchez has been a custodian at J.T. Canales Elementary School for 24 years and has held the title of head custodian for the past two years, the story noted.
J.T. Canales Elementary School Principal Debbie Alford, who nominated Sanchez for the employee of the year honor, said: "He is a born leader. Where many schools have drama in the area of custodial staff, I am blessed with none. They do their jobs. They work hard. They follow Erasmo''s lead."
