Custodian injured in school explosion

SOUDERTON, PA — An unnamed custodian was injured last week when a small explosion occurred while he was emptying a trash receptacle at Souderton Area High School, according to The Reporter.
A plastic bottle filled with a fluid that reacted with other materials placed into it exploded during the second period lunch, the story stated.
According to the story, while there was no fire associated with the explosion, there was a very loud noise that startled the several hundred students and staff present.
There were no injuries sustained by any students and the injured custodian, whose condition is unknown, was taken to Grand View Hospital for treatment, the story noted.
The incident is not being taken lightly and Souderton Area School District officials and Franconia Township Police are currently conducting an investigation and interviewing students who were in the area at the time, the story added.
