County seeking cleaning bids
ELYRIA, OH — Lorain County commissioners have voted to seek bids from private cleaning companies for county buildings, according to The Chronicle-Telegram.
While the decision has been made, whether or not the switch would save the county significant money has yet to be seen, the article stated.
According to the article, the eight custodians currently employed by the county cost around $360,000, and unless there is a significant savings in switching to a private company, the switch likely won''t be made.
Commissioner Tom Williams is also encouraging the custodial union to reopen contract negotiations in order to make the current workers more financially appealing, the article noted.
