Between $150,000 and $180,000 is spent each year to clean up the thousands of reported graffiti incidents in and around the Chico campus, the story stated.
The Chico campus has such a vast problem with graffiti that they employ a full-time custodian to handle its cleaning; the procedure generally involves a pressure washer and a fresh coat of paint, the story noted.
Paul Hawes, the individual in charge of removing the unsightly tags, said: "If they could channel their energies in a more positive way, it would benefit themselves and the community."
Since mid summer, 45 percent of the facilities management and services paint shop''s work orders have been graffiti-related; they expect anywhere from 10 to 25 graffiti related calls a week, the story added.
