Cleaning crews form front lines

JACKSONVILLE, NC — At the height of the summer tourism season, the first impression for visitors often begins the moment they open the door to the beach house or condo they are renting, according to The Daily News.

Keeping these properties in tip-top shape falls to the cleaning crews that descend on a property between check-out and check-in times, making them the first line of defense in the war against poor perception, the article stated.

According to the article, while some guests will take advantage of an early departure, the typical window that crews have to get a house or condo back in shape for the next renter is about five hours.

Cleaning teams typically meet Saturday morning to gather supplies and then head out to tackle anywhere from eight to 10 condo units to four to six houses, depending on the size of the home, the article noted.

Most guests are aware that the place they are renting cannot be treated as they would their own home; however, there can be bad eggs in every group of renters that pass through, the article added.

"There''s always that five percent that when you walk in you say, ''Oh my goodness,''" said Bambi Walton-Rivenbark, who owns Top Level Cleaning and Maintenance and provides cleaning services along Topsail Island.
