CIRI launches initiatives, sets goals

September 19, 2010

The new Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) has established a Launch Committee to finalize its vision, goals and bylaws.

CIRI was initially introduced to the industry in November during the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) show in New Orleans.

The format for the launch program was set by the CIRI Steering Committee, a group of 27 cleaning industry leaders, which met in Chicago the first week of March.

The Steering committee elected Jim Harris, president, Concepts IV, Albany, NY, chairman of the Launch Committee, and Frank Wiley, president, Magnitude Marketing, Hamilton, OH, interim executive director. The two were charged with establishing three sub-committees:

  1. Vision/Mission/Value (VMV)
  2. Goals & Budget
  3. Bylaws

Sub-committees, above standard
The VMV sub-committee will formalize the vision and mission statements that the Steering Committee created in Chicago, and prioritize the value CIRI will provide to three key audiences:

  1. Building owners and managers
  2. The general public
  3. Public policymakers

The Goals sub-committee will define the first-year goals for CIRI, and determine a budget for the institute.

The Bylaws sub-committee will take the input of the other committees and put them into formal bylaws.

Wiley said the three groups are expected to complete their work and present their results to the overall CIRI Steering Committee for review and approval June 21 and 22 in Chicago.

The Steering Committee anticipates it will formally adopt the sub-committee recommendations at that time, Wiley said, and create a plan to introduce CIRI to the entire cleaning industry in a meeting slated for late summer or early fall.
