Cintas Corporation Sweeps Hotel Category at 2011 Image of the Year Awards Alongside Renaissance Hotels, Gaylord Opryland wins for apparel program developed in the wake of devastating 2010 Nashville flood
CHICAGO – For the 12th straight year, the apparel industry’s most celebrated designers and journalists have named hospitality customers of Cintas Corporation winners of the highly anticipated Image of the Year (IOY) awards. Presented by the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) in Orlando, Fla., Cintas swept the hotel category with wins for the fashion, function and quality of uniforms at Renaissance Hotels and Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.
“Each year, we are delighted to recognize leaders in corporate image apparel,” said Richard Lerman, president and CEO of the NAUMD. “The IOY awards, determined by the industry’s top fashion authorities, celebrate truly excellent achievements in corporate uniform design and help distinguish businesses in a highly competitive marketplace.”
For Cintas, the 2011 IOY awards were particularly meaningful. In May 2010, a massive flood in Nashville resulted in millions of dollars in damage and the complete shutdown of Gaylord Opryland Resort. Upon making the decision to renovate and reopen just 195 days later, the company hired Cintas to re-design their apparel program. Under a 105-day timeline, Cintas designers created a new, cohesive uniform program for more than 15 job functions at the iconic resort.
“Amid nearly impossible time constraints, Cintas blended together fashion, function and quality to deliver apparel that beautifully complements our newly restored property,” said Pete Weien, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Gaylord Opryland. “Receiving an IOY award further distinguishes our comeback and our new look.”
Also honored in the hotel category, Renaissance Hotels earned an IOY award for its new Urban and Resort Ambassador collections. To design the uniforms, Cintas utilized Renaissance’s classic but modern brand principles and introduced accessories in vivid color. This created an unexpected element of surprise that further enhanced the hotel’s signature style and reinforced the Renaissance brand.
“Our new apparel collection from Cintas has not only enhanced our style and professional image, but our ambassadors’ demeanor as well,” said Toni Stoeckl, Senior Director of Lifestyle brands for Renaissance Hotels. “Winning an IOY award creates a sense of pride in our ambassadors that translates to their interaction with guests.”
“We are honored to have two of our distinguished business partners selected for this prestigious award,” said Todd McKeown, Vice President of Hospitality for Cintas. “Designing award-winning programs like these takes a tremendous amount of collaboration between Cintas and our clients. We are fortunate to partner with clients like Renaissance Hotels and Gaylord Opryland Resort who have such passion for their staff’s apparel program.”
