Victor Branch, who is in the custody of the
Alton Police Department on $50,000 bond, is not being charged with the theft of any of the reported missing items, the story stated.
Items that went missing and are suspected to have been stolen by Branch include: Roughly $550 cash; a $1,120
Dell Latitude laptop; a
Nikon digital camera; a set of keys; and checks for an upcoming golf tournament, the story noted.
According to the police report, the burglar apparently broke a window in a door to gain entrance to the church on Tuesday.
Branch, who claims he was going through drawers looking for a key, had been terminated on Monday and was not allowed on church property, the story added.
