Choose the best systems for your restroom

September 19, 2010

The wrong washroom system can cost you needless money and compromise health standards.

Consider the following key issues when choosing restroom accessories for your facility.

Waste
Signs of waste include customers taking more paper than they need; excessive unused tissue on core or stub rolls; and dispenser vandalism.

Dispensers that deliver only one towel at a time can greatly reduce waste. High-capacity roll dispensers, highly absorbent paper, single-portion mechanical dispensers, and lockable dispensers can also help.

Labor
If your maintenance staff is constantly checking dispensers for refill or leaving extra tissue product on countertops and fixtures, your labor costs may be out of line.

Installing large capacity dispensers reduces refill labor since jumbo tissue rolls last up to 20 times longer than conventional rolls.

Hygiene
Reducing cross contamination is critical in foodservice, healthcare, and high-traffic facilities.

Studies show that using paper towels versus hand dryers decreases bacteria levels by 38 percent to 58 percent.

Dispensers that completely enclose the paper product, as well as touchless dispensers without cranks or levers, can greatly reduce the risk of cross contamination while also controlling usage.

Pilferage
Extra towel and bath tissues left on restroom counters/fixtures and paper products that easily fit home dispensers increase the likelihood of theft.

Using jumbo bathroom rolls that won’t fit home dispensers discourages pilferage while key-lock dispensers can prevent easy access and deter theft.

High-capacity dispensers also eliminate the need to keep excess towel and bath tissues in the open.

Ask your sales rep if your washrooms are as efficient and hygienic as possible. Taking time to do so can lead to substantial, long-term savings of both time and money while greatly reducing the risk of cross contamination.
