Cases of the flu on the rise
WITCHITA, KS — Flu season took its time in arriving, but health officials say cases of the seasonal sickness are on the rise, according to KAKE-TV.
"Influenza is coming later this year than it''s ever come in my memory, mid-March is just crazy," said Dr. Kevin Hoppock, a family physician who typically sees influenza patients between December and February.
Officials with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, who monitor the number of influenza-like cases in the state, have said influenza activity has been steadily increasing over the last several weeks, the article stated.
According to the article, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified Kansas and three bordering states as having a widespread outbreak of influenza.
