Car wash held to benefit custodian

June 18, 2012

KIRKWOOD, MO — Keysor Elementary students, parents and faculty are rallying behind one of their own, according to the Kirkwood Patch.

Lamont Adams, a longtime custodian at Keysor, retired at the end of the school year due to his failing health; one day later, he had a heart attack, the article stated.

According to the article, while Adams was in the intensive care unit (ICU), his wife of 30 years, Yvonne Adams, passed away.

In May, Keysor teachers and families hosted a special all-school assembly for Adams, showering their custodian with gifts and donations to help with expenses until retirement benefits kicked in, the article noted.

On Saturday, the Greentree Community Church held a benefit car wash to help Adams with the unexpected expense of his hospitalization, rehabilitation and funeral costs for his wife, the article added.

"He was loved and respected by not only the Keysor staff but all of Kirkwood," said former Keysor teacher Tricia Gaines.

"We are trying to spread the word and makes this a huge success to support him and his family," Gaines added.
