American Cleaning Institute announces new hire, promotions

WASHINGTON — The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) (formerly The Soap and Detergent Association) has named Jacob Cassady as its new manager of government affairs and announced the promotions of two of its directors, Douglas Troutman and Paul DeLeo, according to a press release.
Cassady comes to ACI from the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), where he was a legislative specialist, the release stated.
"Cassady comes to ACI with legislative experience both at the state and federal levels as well as significant campaign organizing experience," said Dennis Griesing, ACI vice president of government affairs.
"His addition to our team strengthens our advocacy efforts on behalf of the cleaning products industry," Griesing noted.
According to the release, ACI also recently announced the promotions of Douglas Troutman to senior director of government affairs, and Dr. Paul DeLeo to senior director of environmental safety.
Prior to joining ACI in 2007, Troutman served as senior manager of legislative affairs at Underwriters Laboratories Inc.''s (UL) Washington office and DeLeo was a consumer safety officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 2003 to 2007, managing the evaluation of the safety of new food and color additives, the release added.
