BROOKLYN, NY — Plans are in the works for placing the borough''s first public toilet in Grand Army Plaza, according to
The Brooklyn Paper.
The prospect of a 25-cent-per-use, self-cleaning toilet has fostered mixed feelings from residents who, if nothing else, applaud the positive efforts, the story stated.
Maria Grillo, a Brooklyn resident, said: "I think it’s wonderful, but I don’t know how long it will last. People will trash it."
The city claims maintenance will be a non-issue because it is the responsibility of
Cemusa, a Spanish company that pays for the units and their maintenance by selling advertising on them, the story noted.
According to another Brooklyn resident, Joan Tobias, "As long as they keep it clean, I’m not against it. I’d be willing to pay even a one dollar fee, as long as it’s clean."
