Norovirus dampens July 4 plans
WACO, TX — The virus that has wreaked havoc on multiple cruise lines in recent months has been found at the Waco VA hospital, causing the facility to postpone its July 4th BBQ, according to KXXV-TV.
There have been two confirmed cases and more than 40 people have exhibited symptoms of the norovirus since late June, the article stated.
According to the article, the hospital has since stopped admitting new patients and has restricted access throughout the facility.
"Once that happened then our infectious disease team went out and searched and found that we did have a problem and so once that took place then we put the action items in place," said Waco VA spokesperson Bobby Zimmerman.
The hospital is also asking families not to visit their loved ones in the hospital and have "ramped up" the cleaning process inside facilities and urged patients and faculty to properly wash their hands, the article noted.
