Principal and janitor switch places

April 2, 2014

CONCORD, NC — On Tuesday, students at Wolf Meadow Elementary were in for a few surprises when they started their school day, according to the Independent Tribune.

During morning news, Principal Adam Auerbach announced that, after almost three years there, he had decided to “quit and become the head custodian;” current Head Custodian Howard Blackwelder was stepping into his role as principal, the article stated.

According to the article, it was all a part of an elaborate April Fools' Day joke, but Auerbach did not plan on telling the students until the end of the day.

"I've changed the marquee sign, swept the cafeteria, helped feed the worms and cut up apples for the Garden Club," Auerbach said.

"I could like doing this job. I haven’t had any code greens or code browns. Blackwelder wrote out what to do, but I keep having to ask him where to put everything," Auerbach added.
