HFI announces new advisory board member

New HFI Advisory Board Member - Sue Garwood, Senior Hospitality Management Trainer with Best Western International, THE WORLD'S BIGGEST HOTEL FAMILY®.

 

Sue Garwood is the Senior Hospitality Management Trainer with Best Western International, THE WORLD'S BIGGEST HOTEL FAMILY®.

Since joining the Education & Training Department in 2006, she has served as both a regional trainer and program developer as well as a Training Supervisor.

Totally, Sue brings more than 25 years hospitality industry experience to her Best Western role with almost 10 years’ experience as a Best Western hotel owner and general manager. She has worked in both hotel sales and marketing as well as an independent trainer of hotel training curriculums, and a consultant in the development of city-regional tourism programs.

Sue was the lead for the General Manager Professional Development Series, a week long operations-centered certification program with a focus on Housekeeping and Maintenance, Front Desk and Sales, Customer Service and Reasonable Care, all with an emphasis on Brand Awareness; and is a member of the core team in the development and implementation of the company’s customer-care initiative: Best Western I Care®.

Sue is now working with IEHA and HFI in the development of a Healthy Hotel Housekeeper certification to make hotel environments cleaner and healthier.  The Best Western I Care Clean program gained international recognition with its introduction in 2012 to its 4,000 members worldwide. 

A Certified Hotel Administrator, Certified Hospitality Trainer and  Accredited Certification Instructor with the Education Institute of the AHLA, Sue has a passion for the hospitality industry and enjoys using her experiences and knowledge to assist others in improving their operations.
