Cleaning is a dangerous profession
According to the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Janitors and building cleaners have one of the highest work-related injury rates. Workers may suffer cuts, bruises and burns from machines, tools and chemicals . . . when working.”
Thankfully, many in the cleaning industry stand ready to address this problem head-on, said Doug Berjer, a brand manager for both CFR and Tornado Industries.
In a feature article that is part of the February issue of Cleaning & Maintenance Management, Berjer breaks the issue down into specific cleaning tasks — floorcare, mopping, vacuuming.
Today's equipment offers a number of ergonomic options to help reduce the risk factors of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and other work-related injuries.
