Janitors make the grade

August 22, 2013

PITTSFIELD, MA — Recycling awareness is at an all time high at Pittsfield Public Schools thanks to the work of the district's custodians, according to The Berkshire Eagle.

Recently, city officials and the Pittsfield School Recycling Steering Committee took the time to thank the custodial staff during a custodian appreciation luncheon, the article stated.

According to the article, the event’s purpose was not only to recognize the work that janitorial staff does all year round, but to thank them for taking part in a pilot recycling program and recycling audit.

"I think it’s a wonderful program. The custodial staff does a tremendous job with the schools; they always look good. They’re also an integral part with respect to successful recycling. Some people say its more work, but it’s the right thing to do," said Mayor Daniel L. Bianchi.
