Crafting Our Coverage
Throughout my 13-year editing and writing career, I’ve covered a number of industries and markets.
Natural gas distribution, the automotive market and the car wash industry — I’ve spent years documenting and reporting on various industrial segments as they transformed, evolved and developed.
But after just five months of working in this market, I’m ready to make a bold declaration: I have never covered anything comparable to the cleaning and maintenance industry.
During my admittedly short tenure with Cleaning & Maintenance Management, one thing I’ve learned is that there are many issues and topics that must be taken into account in the JanSan market.
The scope and breadth of factors that affect the cleaning industry have proven to be quite impressive.
So Many Subjects
This issue of Cleaning & Maintenance Management is a good example.
In the following pages, you’ll find a cover feature discussing different types of measurement technology and other feature articles on workloading, odor control, mobile worker software, teargas cleanup and sustainability.
Further, our specialty coverage touches on legislation, the contractor buying process, lighting, floor mat standards and irrigation concerns.
Along with the magazine, our online CM e-News Daily highlights different areas of concern for facility managers, building service contractors (BSCs) and their workers.
In addition to traditional reportage on janitors and vendors, CM e-News frequently covers an array of subjects including viral and bacterial outbreaks around the globe, new cleaning regulations, event cleanup, maintenance and cleaning tips, industry studies, disaster preparation, contests, workplace safety and training opportunities.
Also, our regular spotlight e-Newsletters offer in-depth reportage on a wide range of industry segments and cleaning processes including carpet care, infection control, restroom care and education facilities.
Finally, our online exclusive articles provide additional coverage on related subjects; some recent examples addressed power washing, manufacturing, pest control, floor care terminology, ID cards, batteries and green disinfection.
Evolving And Changing
There’s an old saying about the weather in Alabama, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a couple of hours, it will change.”
Well here, if one set of magazine, e-News or online stories doesn’t catch your attention, just come back in a bit, we’ll be covering something completely different.
As always, I plan our coverage using an open-door editorial policy.
If there’s a new issue that is affecting your business or operation, and you would like to learn more about it, please feel free to contact me at any time.
The wide and growing content base in the cleaning market makes for interesting days and engaging issue planning, and for that, this seasoned editor is definitely thankful.
As you all know, and as I am learning, there is no such thing as a boring day in the cleaning industry.
