Janitor charged in thievery

July 23, 2013

UPPER DARBY, PA — A janitor in the Upper Darby School District has been arrested for allegedly taking a computer monitor, according to the Daily Times.

Rodney Hardrick, 21, was taken into police custody after a witness reported seeing a man walk out of an elementary school carrying a monitor, the article stated.

According to the article, the witness said Hardrick then placed the monitor in the back seat of his car.

"He is not an employee of Upper Darby School District. This is an open investigation. We are looking into seeing if anything else is missing. We employ ServiceMaster for Stonehurst School," said spokesperson Dana Spino.

"When you put subcontractors into our schools and buildings, there needs to be some type of background check. They have to be trustworthy and ethical and apparently he is not," police Superintendent Michael Chitwood added.
