Custodian retires after nearly four decades
PRICHARD, AL — For one school custodian, working hard isn't just in his nature, it's the motto he lives by, according to WKRG-TV.
William Spencer has been a custodian at Faulkner Technical High School for almost 40 years, and in all that time he has never taken a vacation day and used very few sick days, the article stated.
According to the article, in a few weeks time, when his retirement is official, Spencer will have a lot more time on his hands.
"Well I hate to leave but I guess it is just one of those things it is time for me to get out. As a young man I was brought up working hard. It is just in my blood to do that," said Spencer.
Because of his unused sick days and vacation time, Spencer is retiring with an additional 23 months of work, giving him a nice nest egg to start his retirement with, the article noted.
