Janitor reports theft, is charged

COLD SPRING, NY — A janitor from Haldane High School has been charged in a June burglary, that he initially reported to the police, according to The Journal News.

James S. Pavelock told police that someone had broken into the principal’s office and removed the contents of a safe, amounting to around a $5,000 theft, the article stated.

According to the article, an investigation has revealed that Pavelock himself broke in, found the safe key and removed the money.

Pavelock resigned his position with the school and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted, the article noted.
