Board of Education cancels maintenance contract
LISBON, OH — The Lisbon Exempted Village Schools board of education has canceled a contract with a maintenance service company that was hired a year ago, according to the Salem News.
Termination of the contract with Facility Maintenance Systems was recommended by Superintendent Don Thompson because they were unsuccessful in a search to find any other districts to share the company's services with as a way to save money, the article stated.
"It was a one-year experiment that unfortunately has not worked out," said Thompson.
According to the article, when the board contracted with the company last July, it was with the understanding that another school district would be sought in order to share the services and costs.
Neither Thompson nor the company was able to find another district interested in sharing the services, which left Lisbon to absorb the entire cost, the article noted.
