The Ideal Tool for Post-Construction, Post-Tenancy Cleans

April 18, 2013

A More Productive Design
Daily carpet care is one thing, a complete clean is another problem entirely. Complete cleans can be difficult to bid and much more time-consuming than anticipated. When a facility needs tender loving care all the way down to the details, eliminate the guesswork. Bring in equipment that ensures the job will be done quickly and thoroughly.

Chris Bursch of Office Pride of Chattanooga uses ProTeam's new Super Coach Pro™ 10 on extensive detail cleans. Whether it is a post-construction or post-tenancy cleanup, Bursch and his staff take their time - three to four times what they spend on a routine clean - to return a facility to its natural state of spotlessness.

"Benefits of the backpack are you can really cover a lot more surface in less time," said Bursch. "You can get underneath furniture and in tight areas easier, especially with the tools available."

Independent laboratory testing by the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) has documented that a backpack vacuum cleans a facility three times faster than a dual motor upright. According to Bursch, training in proper technique is essential to realize these productivity benefits.

Office Pride of Chattanooga is a franchise commercial cleaning operation that provides janitorial services to 50 customers in the area. The staff of 22 part-time employees cleans facilities ranging from 1,500 to 58,000 sq. ft. in size primarily on nights and weekends.

"People tend to do what they're used to. They put on a backpack vacuum and use it like an upright, pushing it back and forth in front of them," said Bursch. "Instead, if you move the floor tool as far as you can to the left and right, you cover more space in the same spot you're standing."

Advanced Filtration for Healthier Air
The Super Coach Pro is ideal for detail and post-construction cleans because of its advanced filtration system, designed to clean the air while it cleans the floors. ProTeam's Four Level® Filtration w/HEPA captures 99.97 percent of particulate matter (construction dust, pollen, dander, mold, etc.) down to 0.3 microns in size and removes them from the indoor environment. As 30 percent of Office Pride's customer base is medical, this is a welcome benefit to the health of those facilities.

As a manufacturer of sustainable cleaning equipment, ProTeam has been in the fight for healthy facilities for over 25 years, and is partnered with the American Lung Association in efforts to educate the public about the importance of healthy indoor air.

Bursch has found that his Super Coach Pros are ideal for dusting all surfaces, mini-blinds, vents, edging, and around obstacles. One of the larger facilities Office Pride cleans is a multi-tenant office building that includes a salon. Only his backpack vacuums are able to pick up all the hair, leaving none behind.

"I think they're terrific. The filter system is awesome. It really knocks down on the dust," said Bursch. "Dusters spread the dust everywhere. Instead of using our wool high dusters on vents, we use the vacuum to suck out the dust."

Office Pride took on one detail clean at a dentist's office that had a particularly rough ceiling tile. It was built up with a layer dust and cobwebs. Using the Xover® floor tool, Bursch's employees were able to vacuum the ceiling as they would the floor, a much faster and more efficient method than knocking off the dust with a broom, waiting for it to settle, and then vacuuming the floor.

When you are unsure what challenges a cleaning job will bring, bring the best equipment. The Super Coach Pro includes a three-year warranty on parts, labor, and motor, lifetime on molded body parts. Follow ProTeam Vacuums on Twitter and Facebook to hear about the latest innovations, and visit
