Programmatically Providing Exceptional Results
The Buckeye Floor Care Program greatly exceeds expectations for a school district in Southwest Pennsylvania.
Shaler Area School District, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, consists of five primary buildings for kindergarten through third grade, an elementary school, a middle school and a senior high school.
John Kaib, custodial foreman for the district, had been having some durability and floor stripping issues that resulted in wasted time and money.
He was introduced to the Buckeye Floor Care Program with RipSaw™ floor stripper and Citation® floor finish.
Kaib agreed to a full-scale floor demonstration in his facility and saw the exceptional results for himself.
He soon agreed to another floor demonstration on his gym floor following the Buckeye Reflections® Wood Floor Program.
A Stark Change
Kaib’s previous floor stripper had a harsh odor and required several applications to completely remove floor finish.
RipSaw successfully strips floors in one application, and its built-in automatic dilution indicator (ADI®) feature turns the solution cloudy when it is properly diluted, helping to eliminate product waste.
Since using RipSaw, Kaib has saved on overall product costs because it is diluted properly and works in one application.
“There is no better floor stripper on the market than RipSaw,” says Kabib.
With Citation, the floors hold up much longer than other floor finishes they have used, allowing them to significantly extend their strip cycles.
Previously, they had to strip floors every year because the floor finish they were using was not durable, which was costly.
Citation is non-powdering, non-yellowing and holds up under extreme conditions.
“Citation has held up better than any other finish that we have used in the past.”
Kaib was also dissatisfied with the results of his previous water-based wood floor coating; it lacked durability and did not hold up for the entire school year.
Affordable Performance And Safety
The Buckeye Reflections Wood Floor Program is easy to follow and offers performance, safety and durability.
Following the program, he and his staff were first trained on how to use Screen Clean™ ready-to-use floor preparation cleaner with 120-grit screens.
They really liked the wet cleaning process because it eliminated dust cleanup.
Then, they applied Coliseum™ 350 oil-based wood floor coating, a formula compliant with volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations.
Not only is it more durable than their previous wood floor coating, but it is also more cost effective.
Kaib is very pleased with how much better Buckeye products perform, how easy they are to use and how cost effective they are.
Additionally, he really appreciates Buckeye’s hands-on training provided for him and his staff on both hard floor care and gym floor care.
Since incorporating Buckeye offerings into his school district, Kaib is proud to have products that are highly effective, easily implemented and cost effective.
