Funding approved to address deferred maintenance
BOISE, ID — A more than $12 million budget item has been approved to begin to address substantial deferred maintenance at the state's colleges and universities, according to KPVI-TV.
The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee is using money from Idaho's Permanent Building Fund to help cover some of the nearly $700 million worth of maintenance needs that have been deferred over the years, the article stated.
According to the article, the appropriation was unanimously approved on Friday after the committee viewed pictures of conditions at the schools, which included rotting window frames, cracked sidewalks and leaking boilers.
