Custodian by day, businessman by night

February 11, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC — Levy Robinson, a senior custodian at Snipes Academy of Arts and Design, also runs Robinson's Cleaning, a business he started 20 years ago, according to the Star News.

levy robinsonFor the past 10 years, Robinson has been the senior custodian in the New Hanover County Schools, with Snipes being his most recent assignment; by 6 p.m., he is back at work as a member of a team of workers responsible for eight different accounts that range from one customer with four different buildings and 20,000 square feet of space to a much smaller office setting, the article stated.

According to the article, the endless stream of cleaning assignments seems to invigorate Robinson, and he seems to come to the tasks naturally.

"As for the cleaning part of it, I also got started with that when I was at Topsail High. Only the senior custodian works 12 months; the others 10 months," said Robinson.

"So the county had a summer program that hired high school kids to help the supervisor during those two summer months. That's where I learned to shampoo rugs, strip and wax floors. I learned how to clean," Robinson added.
