Custodian retiring after five decades

January 4, 2013

SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA — Despite the many changes seen in the San Gabriel Valley over the years, Sellers Elementary students have enjoyed a daily constant: A clean campus, courtesy of Tim Swann, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

tim swannSwann, Head Custodian II for Sellers and the Glendora Unified School District office, has been employed by the district since he graduated from Glendora High in 1962, the article stated.

"Mr. Swann epitomizes dedication; he's one of a kind. For someone to do something so well for so long is impressive and it doesn't happen very often," said Dominic DiGrazia, assistant superintendent of personnel services.

According to the article, 50 years of service credit seemed long enough for Swann who officially "retired" at the end of December.

Swann plans to continue working part-time until a replacement is hired, the article noted.
