Custodian charged in university fire
ATHENS, OH — An Ohio University custodian has been charged with accidentally setting a fire on the roof of a university building, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Jason Brown, 32, has been charged with the misdemeanor of criminal damaging after he allegedly discarded a cigarette on the roof of the Research and Technology Center, the article stated.
According to the article, Brown, who was working in the building at the time of the fire, admitted to authorities that he was responsible.
Early damage estimates to the building are more than $20,000, but an exact amount has not yet been determined, the article noted.
