CORONA DEL MAR, CA — Longtime custodian Scott Matthews has been named one of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District employees of the year, according to the Corona Del Mar Today.
Matthews has worked for the district a total of 35 years, and for Harbor View Elementary School for the past 19 years, the article stated.

"The kids here are the best I’ve ever worked with — the best," said Matthews at a Flag Deck ceremony at the school this week.
According to the article, Matthews is one of six classified employees nominated for employee of the year in six different categories; Matthews was selected for the maintenance and operations category.
"He is also now a nominee to be forwarded onto the county competition and possibly the state," said Laura Boss, a district spokeswoman.
