Head custodian honored by school
BROOKSVILLE, FL — Part of the reason Charles "Kojack" Burnett was selected as this year's Hernando County Schools' School Related Employee of the Year was his goal to make everyone happy, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The other reason is the hard work that Burnett does as Eastside Elementary School’s head custodian, day in and day out, the article stated.
"I nominated him. He is just phenomenal, and he has a heart of gold. He truly does. And he is very involved in the community. I have seen him do things for people, help people tirelessly and he always says, 'I just want to make people happy' and he means it," said Assistant Principal Heather McCarty.
According to the article, Burnett has now been the school-level School Related Employee of the Year three times, with previous honors in 2002 and 2007.
Burnett believes his number one job is safety, explaining that his job is to keep things working perfectly and maintaining the complex as a good working environment, the article noted.
