HOOSICK FALLS, NY — A reinstated Hoosick Falls Central School custodian has received additional back pay and a reduced penalty following a second appeal, according to the Bennington Banner.
A criminal investigation of a February 2010 domestic incident that occurred off school grounds prompted a disciplinary hearing, which resulted in Dennis James' dismissal, the article stated.
According to the article, before being terminated in January, James had worked for the district for close to 20 years.
Criminal charges were never pursued, and in March a New York Supreme Court ruling ordered that James be reinstated to his position, and emphasized that the school board had no authority to impose the 14 month suspension, the article noted.
