Antimicrobial soap recalled for bacterial contamination
TORONTO — A Quebec company has voluntarily recalled one lot of its antimicrobial foaming hand soaps because it has been found to be contaminated with bacteria, according to The Canadian Press.
Avmor Ltd., the maker of professional cleaning products, has said that most of the soap was unused and is already back in the company’s hands, the article stated.
According to the article, testing conducted by Health Canada showed the soap contained the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can pose a serious health risk, particularly to people with weakened immune systems.
The recalled product, Antimicrobial Foaming Hand Soap, is typically used in places like offices and hospitals, the article noted.
