Diversey Announces Winner of Sustainability Innovation Award at 2012 WFBSC
Congress Marsden Bldg Maintenance takes top honor for innovative composting program
STURTEVANT, WI — Diversey, now a part of Sealed Air (NYSE: SEE), awarded Marsden Building Maintenance its Sustainability Innovation Award at the 19th Congress of the World Federation of Building Service Contractors (WFBSC) in Curitiba Brazil. Diversey recognized the Minneapolis-based building service contractor (BSC) for its innovative composting program. OCS Group and Verzani & Sandrini were also named finalists.
Diversey developed the Sustainability Innovation Award to encourage and promote green cleaning practices and sustainable innovation among BSCs. The award honors BSCs that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable business practices with an emphasis on innovation and measurable results.
“Driving change through innovation is essential to the cleaning industry, especially in the area of sustainability,” said Pedro Chidichimo, President of Sealed Air’s global Institutional & Laundry business unit. “Marsden has positioned itself as a leader by addressing today’s environmental problems and promoting sustainable business practices amongst its customers.”
Marsden is being honored for its composting program which helps its customers divert organic materials from the landfill and recycle them into organic compost. By diverting organic materials from the waste stream, the program reduces landfill waste which can result in the production of methane gas, a source of global warming. It also diverts materials from the incinerator to reduce air pollution.
“We’re honored to accept this award from Diversey,” said Guy Mingo, CEO, Marsden Holding, LLC. “In addition to improving our customers’ environmental footprint, the program can also boost overall facility recycling rates to 75 percent or higher which can reduce waste disposal costs.”
This year marks the third presentation of Diversey’s Sustainability Innovation Award, and Diversey is the sole platinum sponsor of the WFBSC Congress. The WFBSC offers global educational forums to educate its members and improve professional competence. The next Congress will be held in New York in 2014.
