Lottery-winning maintenance man plans to continue working
BELFAST, ME — On Monday, Belfast City Hall's longtime maintenance man, Norman Gilmore, got up and cleaned the building, just like he always does, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The difference between this Monday and every other Monday was that, after finishing his shift, Gilmore made the trek to Augusta, Maine, and picked up the $100,000 check he had won over the weekend playing a scratch-off game, the article stated.
According to the article, Gilmore, who has worked for the city of Belfast for 22 years, does not plan to make any major changes to his life because of his lottery windfall.
After state and federal taxes were paid, Gilmore walked away with $70,000, which he deposited into the bank right away, the article noted.
