The elusive toilet torcher may have struck again
SAN FRANCISCO — After a string of portable toilets were set ablaze some three years ago in and around San Francisco, it is possible that the notorious "outhouse arsonist" has struck again, according to SF Weekly.
Police fired back to the vandalism by arresting at least one individual with connections to some of the dozen incidents, but others went free and, by all accounts, have rekindled their interest in destruction, the story stated.
Early last Friday morning, a U.S. Park Police officer noticed two of the mobile latrines engulfed in flames, the story noted.
According to the story, at a cost of nearly $750 per unit, the fires can be quite costly, especially since they can easily initiate structure fires in neighboring properties.
The local fire department was called to the scene to extinguish the flaming portable john, and an investigation has been initiated that stinks of the brouhaha experienced in 2009, the story added.
