EASLEY, SC — A building of classrooms at Easley High School was closed this week due to possible mold and mildew contamination, a little over one week before school is scheduled to start on August 17, according to the Examiner.
The problem was discovered during routine maintenance of the building''s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, the article note.
The closure will affect 19 teachers at the school: Although scheduled to report next week, they will not have access to their classrooms until cleanup plans bring the air quality level back to normal, the article stated.
According to the article, officials met with an environmental testing firm prior to making the decision to close the building, which was constructed in 1979.
