SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — Daniel Garcia, a father of five and beloved maintenance worker at Scotts Valley schools, died Thursday from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
Garcia was put in a medically induced coma at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center after colliding with a Jeep Grand Cherokee on November 1, the article noted.
Friends and colleagues described Garcia as "a great friend, a great man," and said he was someone who knew everything about how the school facilities worked and could be counted on to fix any problem, the article stated.
According to the article, the Scotts Valley schools community rallied to support the well-liked custodian by selling T-shirts and collecting donations last week to help Garcia and his family; more than $4,000 was raised.
