VAN BUREN, AR — Police officers from Van Buren, Lavaca and Greenwood gathered on Friday for training on how to clean up after methamphetamine (meth) laboratories, according to KHBS-TV.

An influx of meth labs in the state has made the cleanup an expense local law enforcement has had to deal with, the article stated.

According to the article, that expense increased when Congress cut funding for meth lab cleanup last year.

Friday''s training will allow local law enforcement to clean defunct meth labs themselves, rather than contracting out to special companies, the article noted.
