JAY, ME — Wausau Paper''s Otis mill will stop production indefinitely today, making it the first time in over 100 years that the mill will cease manufacturing paper products, according to the Sun Journal.
The last shift ever at the mill is the overnight Sunday shift, which runs to about 7 a.m. Monday, the story stated.
Wausau Paper plans to sell the equipment and machinery, but will not sell the goods to a competing company, the story noted.
According to the story, specialty products made at the Otis mill will be shifted to the Mosinee mill and the Rhinelander mill, both of which are in Wisconsin.
More than 200 individuals have lost their jobs as a result of the mill closing, the story added.
