In early March the district attempted to outsource food services, but after all three interested firms, Sodexo, Chartwell''s and ARAMARK, failed to return proposals by the deadline, the district has kept their in-house staff, the article stated.
However, Burke is now considering seeking companies that could take over custodial and groundskeeping services for the district, the article noted.
According to the article, custodial and groundskeeping services are currently handled by 75 custodians and nine groundskeepers.
"I think those are the two where we might be able to get something done. We''ve got to take a shot and see. If it''s workable and we can save the taxpayers money, we should do it. If not, we won''t. You don''t know unless you put it out there," said Burke about the possible outsourcing of the custodial and groundskeeping staff.
