PENSACOLA, FL — Twenty-five custodians from Pensacola Junior College are losing their jobs today as the college is outsourcing its custodial services, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
By privatizing custodial services, Pensacola Junior College stands to save about $300,000, the story stated.
Keegan Staffing will provide 13 contracted custodians to work the night shift at the college, the story noted.
According to the story, Pensacola Junior College will waive all costs and fees not covered by financial assistance for the displaced workers to attend classes and earn degrees.
Custodial supervisors were spared their jobs and a "skeleton staff" was retained to perform daytime custodial services, the story added.
