WAUKON, IA — Veterans Memorial Hospital was recently recognized as one of the cleaning hospitals in the nation following a blind housekeeping study, according to The Standard.
Veterans Memorial placed third in the cleanliness study behind two other Iowa hospitals, the story stated.
Extensive cleanliness and infection control processes, including spraying a glow-in-the-dark substance in certain spots of the rooms that illuminates soils to check the efficacy of cleaning crews, are credited for Veteran Memorial''s cleanliness, the story noted.
Veterans Memorial Hospital Administrator Mike Myers said: "I think this exemplifies the spirit of the housekeeping folks here, and it shows because this hospital is on display here 24/7 and they keep it spotless."
By training employees on efficient cleaning procedures and double checking work, Veterans Memorial Hospital, with its diligent and dedicated housekeeping staff, ensures that its facility remains clean, healthy and safe for patients, visitors and staff, the story added.
