CHATHAM, MA — Public health officials from multiple counties stage exercise in emergency response preparedness, according to the Chatham Patch.
The idea behind the exercise was to stack the deck so that responders gain experience in addressing multiple scenarios at the same time, the article stated.
According to the article, the simulated emergency scenario included a Category 4 hurricane, a pandemic flu and the presence of anthrax in a hospital emergency room.
There were 100 members of the groups who acted as storm victims, and more than 100 responders who performed the vaccinations and other treatments, the article stated.
