MANHATTAN — The high-end Fifth Avenue doll shop and cafe American Girl Place reopened over the weekend after being closed for several days due to a norovirus scare, according to DNAinfo.
The establishment closed last Wednesday following three patrons who dined there falling ill and reporting the coincidence to the cafe, the story stated.
Julie Parks, director of public relations for American Girl, said: "It was a precautionary measure in response to a suspected stomach virus. We took every measure to resolve this issue."
After a total of 285 reservations were canceled while it was closed, the cafe received a clean bill of health from inspectors and again opened its doors to patrons, the story noted.
Many patrons, most of whom were unaware of the recent closing, say the news is surprising to them, as American Girl Place is a high-priced Fifth Avenue establishment whose diners and shoppers expect the highest quality and cleanliness, the story added.
