SAN JOSE, CA — More than 50 people at a South San Jose retirement community are recovering from a norovirus outbreak, according to the Mercury News.

The outbreak started two weeks ago at The Atrium, with six residents becoming sick enough to be hospitalized, the article stated.

According to the article, as a precaution, the facility temporarily ended common activities, including meals in the dining room, and also sanitized common areas, restricted visitors and installed hand sanitizer dispensers.

Health officials are reminding people in closed quarters to be extra careful and to wash their hands frequently, the article noted.
